Josefine Translates is a boutique translation practice founded in Arezzo in 2019. Six specialist disciplines. One translator as the constant point of contact. All services delivered digitally.
I am Swedish-born and Italy-based since 2018. My academic background is in comparative literature and cultural studies, with a postgraduate specialisation in legal translation. I worked as a translator and editor in Stockholm and London before moving to Arezzo to live in the city I had been visiting as a researcher for a decade.
The decision to found this studio here was deliberate. Arezzoâs cultural heritage â the Piero della Francesca frescoes in the Basilica di San Francesco, the Chimera in the archaeological museum, the goldsmithing tradition rooted in this city for centuries â meant that the context for the work I was already doing existed in an unusually concentrated form. The cityâs business community â manufacturing, fashion, agriculture, law â created demand for all the other disciplines.
This is a boutique practice. I do not take on work I cannot do well. Where a project requires a specialist outside my direct expertise, I work with a small group of trusted colleagues whom I have known professionally for years and who meet the same standard I hold myself to. The client always knows who is working on their project.
Fixed quotes. Transparent process. One point of contact from brief to delivery. That is the offer.
